A few of my favorite (paleo) things.
To maintain a paleo diet, I rely on a few key foods. My meals do not revolve around these items alone, but I find them to be really useful staples when trying out a paleo lifestyle.
COCONUT: oil, milk or flour this is a great fat source and/or substitute for dairy or flour. More info about cooking with coconut oil: http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/03/02/cooking-with-coconut-oil/
ALMONDS: a great (and crunchy) snack and can also be consumed en lieu of dairy milk. Almond meal works as a great sub for flour when baking (be it desserts or savory dinners, like meatloaf).
AVOCADOS: YUM! Again, a great snack and works great in smoothies, and on salad. And yes…paleo GUACAMOLE is dope.
EGGS: Fresh from the farm and GOOD FOR YOU! (They help raise your “good” cholesterol, are high in antioxidants and amino acids, and are packed with vitamins and minerals.) Scrambled, poached, or hard boiled…just do it.
As always moderation is key.
